I utilize a client centered approach that addresses symptoms associated with trauma, mental health diagnosis and / or environmental factors. I believe we are all meant to achieve our best quality of life possible; I also believe in human resilience and inner power to heal. I view the human as a whole, Mind-Body and Spirit, an interconnected being. My philosophy of life is that pain is unavoidable, but suffering is a choice. Over the past 30+ years I have used Client Centered, Solution and Trauma focused approaches to therapy; supported by the following theories: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy with emphasis in Existential and Expressive modalities. Some of the techniques I implement during sessions include Active listening, Reinforcement, Cognitive restructuring, Guided discovery, Role play, Role modeling, Prompting, Shaping, Empowerment, Mindfulness, Emotional regulation, Distress tolerance, Desensitization, Positive self-talk, Guided imagery, Practicing coping skills and Reality testing among others. My style includes transparency, collaboration, and motivation.
